The natural sources of air pollution include volcanic activity that lead to the production of ash particulates, chlorine, sulfur, carbon monoxide and smoke from wildfires and dust from natural sources that are usually large areas with no or little vegetation (Chapman and Rob 23). Human sources of air pollution result from human activities that contribute to air pollution. One of the main sources of air pollu tion that results from human activity is from manufacturing facilities, waste incinerators, and power plants and other forms of fuel-burning heating devices (Gurjar 33). Aircraft, motor vehicles, sound equipments, and devil dog vessels are the other sources of air pollution from human activities. Military activities such as toxic gases, nuclear weapons, and germ warfare can be the other source of air pollution. Controlled burn practices and chemicals used in forestry management and agriculture are the other sources of air pollution resulting from human activity (Colls 27). Pollutants are the substances that spend a penny air pollution. Pollutants that are of major public health and environment concern include ozone, sulfur dioxide, particulate matter, nitrogen dioxide, and carbon dioxide (Liu 18). Pollutants are classified into deuce main categories primary and secondary. Primary pollutants are those that are emitted directly from a process such as sulfur dioxide from manufacturin g facilities, the carbon monoxide from the motor vehicle, or ash from volcanic eruption (Gurjar 36). Example of primary pollutants include carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, volatile organic compounds, ammonia, radioactive pollutants,

Strategic Management - News Paper business Essay

Strategic Management - News Paper business - Essay ExampleIf management wants to stress on the importance of customer need they may vary from area to area in the regions the firm offers its products. Innovation hobo be considered as prime need of the customer in the case of weightage to customer needs. Every body c overs the news, but the presentation matters. If the presentation is against the interests of a particular community they may be against the organization. So presentation of the news and abridgment of the events must be according to the needs and interests of various customers in different areas.Desired Position It is important to meet the customer needs in all business and industry. Here the needs of customers are timely delivery, publishing and presenting the problems in their areas, critical analysis of current national and international issues, interacting with the customer to let him tell his views, to make government officials and heads of departments and gover nments to talk communicate with the people through our newspaper. The innovation in this area can be made possible by selecting a different topic and a new problem before out competitors pick and communicate with the people. The innovation here lies in continuity. ... The dodge canvas The strategy that gives success in this business is not only to market the product but also getting advertizings. Generally in this business getting advertisements is the counseling to get profits. Obtaining advertisements depends upon the circulation of the newspaper. More the circulation the more number of advertisements the news paper can get. One can fix more tariffs for the ads also. The tariffs depend upon two factors 1. The area that is cover by newspaper, 2. The circulation of the newspaper. If we want to be a head of our competitor having equal circulation with us, we must gather more ads for more tariff. This is made possible if the newspaper is supplied in more number of areas than our comp etitor. Though we are having an equal circulation with our competitor by selling our newspaper out of the state (if our competitor sells within our state) and out of the countrified (if our competitor sells his news paper within our country) and in more countries (if our competitor sells his product in other countries also). This strategy involves high establishment costs regarding the instauration of offices and edition centers regarding collection of advertisements and publication of newspaper. But this investment will be fruitful in long term as it gives upper hand over competitor in increasing the circulation in future and deciding high tariffs for advertising in our paper in present. Along with newspaper one can publish magazines also. This thing will give an advantage to our infrastructure as more than one product can be launched from the same infrastructure. This gives publicity without an advertisement as all the readers of magazine know about the newspaper and the readers of newspaper know about the magazine. This

How Do Dreams Work Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words

How Do Dreams Work - Research Paper ExampleDreams have been considered prophetic and delivered from the spiritual plane. The ways in which dreams have been stimulated take on the concept of incubating in a place or chamber designed specifically to create a prophetic dream. However, dreams have been most used in the search for understanding the unconscious mind. Theories proposed by Jung and Freud have defined ways in which to approach dreams for their therapeutic values. The way in which dreams tap has been analyse for the maven waves that are associated to the different stages of sleep. As well, the way in which they are associated to the mental state of the individual has been examined for the many ways that dreams can be associated. The brain has been studied while sleep occurs in order to determine which parts of the brain are working compared to which parts are not working during the dream state. Still, the associations of the events in dreams to the biological event have ye t to be fully explained. The state of dreaming has been somewhat defined for its biological thing, but the true nature of dreams and how they work has yet to be fully established. Dreams The Theoretical Divide Dreams have provided a great deal of study to psychologists, neurologists, and to disciplines that are concerned with the function of the brain. The concept of dreams has in like manner been an interest to sociologists and anthropologists as they study culture. Sigmund Freud constructed his theory of dreams as purposeful in his theories of psychoanalysis where he insisted that dreaming had no connection to neurology and was a function of the mind rather than part of the brain. This divided the concept of mind and brain and even when modern scientists discovered REM and found evidence of brain functions in association with dreaming, it was still framed with the psychoanalytical structures, believing that the content of dreams was a separate issue to the physiology of dreams ( Hobson 2005, xii). Previous to the work of Freud, people saw dreams, primarily, as rot of the mind. Some cultures believed in the mystical qualities of dreams, but the general belief about dreams was that they had no real value. Freud changed this through his discussions about the meaning of dreams in regard to psychoanalysis. He proposed that the mind had a hidden censor that could protect a person from sexual and aggressive brats, but that to act on every perceived threat would be brotherlyly unacceptable. The dream phase would allow for threatening thoughts to transform into harmless symbols within dreams. In allowing guilty feelings, anxieties, and inappropriate desires to manifest in dreams, the social world is safe from the intrusion of those thoughts (Plotnik and Kouyoumdjian 160). The two new concepts that Freud brought to the forefront of psychological evaluation was that dreams consisted of symbols and that they could be interpreted for psychologically relevant informat ion (Plotnik and Kouyoumdjian 160). The idea that dreams held symbols and could be interpreted was new from a cultural understanding as many religions and cultures had depended on the symbols and interpretations of those symbols for mystical meaning for centuries, perhaps back to the dawn of human history. However, that these symbols and interpretations could be used for the scientific study of the mind and focused upon the individual was a revolutionary idea. Freud had three

International corporate reporting issues Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words

International corporate reporting issues - Essay ExampleLiterally, the differences in the financial reporting system in varying countries harbor acted as an obstacle in the integration of national economy with global economy (Verschoor, 2011 Alexander, Britton & Jorissen, 2007). Thus, in order to deal with these challenges, IASB and FASB together have been duly engaged in promoting harmonization of financial reporting systems (Whittington, 2008 Mogul, 2003). Emphasising on these aspects of the outside(a) accounting standards, this paper intends to identify and explain the six major soft characteristics of accounting information. Furthermore, this paper aims to evaluate the application of these qualitative characteristics by Diageo plc focusing on three particular areas. ... The institutions in the accounting standards namely International account Standard Board (IASB) and Financial Accounting Standard Board (FASB) have been involved in developing conceptual framework for enhancing the financial reporting system. The direct objective of this conceptual framework has been related with identifying the major purpose of financial reporting in business in accordance with the prevailing economic dowery (Obaidat, 2007). In other words, the conceptual framework developed in accumulation of the principles specified by IASB and FASB deals with establishing objectives and guidelines which are expected to serve as the basis for the set of financial accounting and reporting standards. It is worth mentioning that conceptual framework mainly consists of four major items which includes Objectives related with financial reporting Elements concerning with financial statements Recognition and quantity concepts Qualitative characteristics of accounting information Additionally qualitative characteristics are considered to be one of the vital components of the conceptual framework that supports decision-usefulness and stewardship. Moreover, there are six chief(a) qualitative characteristics that are considered to be vital for economic as well as business decision making according to the specified guidelines in the international standard (Obaidat, 2007). These six elements of qualitative characteristics have been further explained below in relation to their usefulness in terms of decision making and stewardship. Relevance In order to ensure the obtained accounting information to be relevant to creditors, investors and other interested parties, it has been argued that such accounting information

Comparison & Contrast - Essay Exampleertain issues, he is mostly talking in general terms, on the other hired man harpist lays out a clear plan as to what his society intends to do when it comes into power. It is important for political parties to explain just what they intend to do once they come into power and how they will go about achieving it, as well as mention what they have done in the gone, this instils confidence in the voters that they be ready to run the country, as well as shows the commitment of the political company to the voters. The fact that a political party is not only move to gaining power, but is sincere about working for the people should be made apparent to the voters as much as possible. When the leader of a political party simply talks in general and vague terms, the voters may feel disappointed because they do not find any solution to the problems that they face and they do not feel that their issues are being taken seriously. On the other hand, when it is shown to them just how serious the political party is, by illustrating not only past performance, but also insistence on mentioning the party platform again and again, it shows the voters that the said political party and its leader are seriously considering the solutions to the problems the citizens face, be they economic or social. When it comes to explaining the steps that would be taken by the political party when it gets elected, it is easy to incorporate the message in campaign speeches. Interestingly enough, both leaders also agree that there is a need to bring Canadians closer and to build bridges between people. However, again, Layton is vague about how his party would accomplish it, veritable(a) though he states his party is ready for this change, Harper is clear that it is high taxes, high spending, high unemployment, and high mortgages that creates resentment and divisiveness in the public. Interestingly, here Harper does not rely on any evidence to back his cla ims up. But on the other hand, he does lay out, and in quite a herd of detail too, how his party would achieve a more cohesive Canada by keeping the taxes low and by creating more jobs. It is noteworthy that when a political party has not only planned a policy, but has also been running it with success, the voters have more confidence in it. Harper lays out the means with which the jobs will be created. The latter mentions the Economic Action Plan that his previous government has implemented and which resulted in job creation before and, thus, proven its worth. It is skilful of Harper to use the success of his Economic Action Plan as a bid for reelection, because the people have seen the fruits the plan has borne, and, thereby, would be more gentle to his stance than that of others who have not laid out any concrete plans. It is also a good strategy to mention all the pamphlets and other write material available that will keep the voters more informed as well. Harper, in

Is regulation really necessary, or can all the benefits claimed for it Essay

Is formula really necessary, or can all the benefits claimed for it be achieved through the promotion of competition alone - Essay Example topic governments may regulate for a variety of reasons, including re-election and influence from economically powerful houses (Baldwin, Cave, and Lodge, 201216). Governments may also technically justify regulations, thus the general assumption that the regulation was in the context of familiar interest. However, most rationales presented are instances of market failure, thus regulation is initiated, as the uncontrollable market will produce results or behaviors against frequent interest. Other scenarios may present issues of market absence, or an ineffective market. One of the advancing and developing industries in the global economy is information and communication engineering science (ICT). The rapid growth of ICT presents concern over regulation and the possibilities of eliminating market failures, thus the rise of such regulatory bodies l ike the Federal Communication Commission in the US.In summary, regulation is better than competition in safeguarding public interest. Among the opening favoring regulation, include public interest theory, private interest theory, and interest groups theory. According to the public interest theory as argued by Baldwin, Cave, and Lodge, in their 2012 publication, the rationale behind regulation is to benefit and protect the public at large. The theory capitalizes on emf market failures such as monopolistic powers, externalities, asymmetric information, and strategic behaviors. It thus creates the ideology that consumers need protection from market failures and business abuses, with the assumption that regulation serves the scoop out interests of the public through restricting potentially harmful business behaviors (Baldwin, Cave, and Lodge, 2012164). The interest groups theory suggests that there is need for regulation for the interests of stakeholders, while the private interest t heory seeks to safeguard the interest of private interest groups in regulation.

Addressing this misconception, U.S. manufacturers have begun to concentrate efforts on making people more productive and machines more employr friendly.Manufacturers are beginning to realize the best delegacy to improve quality and increase force is through better training and more informed operators. A person who is given a clear counselling as to what the corp orate objectives are for his or her function, as well as responsibility and authority, get out produce a far superior product than a person who has no ownership in their job. There is no one better equipped to improve a process than the person working juxtaposed to it.Modernizations have reduced the overall number of machine operators, a greater majority of those remaining are being asked to take a more accountable and participatory role in the manufacturing control process. Rather than being blindly driven by new manufacturing technologies, companies are inquireing better ways for operators to interact with their machines or processes. Operators are being asked to become managers, to be more referd in the decision-making process, they are being trained to utilization tools designed to finalize whether the manufacturing process leave result in a quality product.Effectively operators need fast access to accurate data. Since the operator workstation is at the heart of each man ufacturing information dust, the submersion has been to make workstations more responsive. Operators are demanding higher levels of information presentation in their workstations, so design engineers have been forced to seek technology that not whole allows for a more sophisticated display of information, but also permits the operator to act on the information quickly, accurately and easily. The demand for increased productivity and efficiency on the fancyt floor has prompted factory floor automation suppliers to develop more open relationships to identify effective methods of integrating new technology into the production process. Suppliers are beginning to realize the advantages of sharing their proprietary design information. While there is a risk associated with releasing technological information, the benefit to suppliers working cooperatively to give operators the tools they need to be more productive is increased market share domestically and worldwide. As we strive to d eliver more information to the factory floor in less time through advances in computer technology, we should never forget that our or so sophisticated technologies must eventually flow through the hands of a single operator. Thats why companies are devoting resources to bringing products to market which make the connection between man and machine easier, faster and better.COMPANY background signalThe Rotessas Garment was owned by Mr. Rogelio Habacon Sr. The consummation started at the year 2003. They generate waste from the time on hand (waiting), dispersion and processing of garments.By assessing the companys workplace the team found out that these problems were generated due to the lack of workers performance, the equipment bein g used, material handling and transportation techniques.Since cutting, sewing, and pressing of buttons are involve in the operation, handling of materials play an important role. Work done causes difficulty since the method of work is time-consuming.Signs are situated at the left area of the vicinity. It is post on the wall where some workers cant see. Because of this, some workers forgot to follow proper procedures and policies inside the building. This creates difficulty with respect to the processing sequence of the industry. We have observed that the operation in the shop environment is manual creating complexity with the tasks being utilized by the workers. There is an improper placement of raw materials and low-down layout of the orderly flows of material, equipment, people and information. We can say that the equipments being used are over-depreciated, which can no longer be used to utilize production effectively. The reason why poor equipments are present is because of improp er maintenance of equipment.Tools like scissors, cutters and screwdrivers are not properly secured. This happens because there are on policies that involve good handling of equipment. precise OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDYThe following objectives of this tuition should be considered* Create an environment that results in the production of high-quality products* Provide planned and orderly flows of material, equipment, people and information* Design a layout and material handling scheme that can be easily adapted to changes in product mix and production volumes* Reduce work-in-process and provide controlled flow and storage of materials* Reduce material handling at and between workstations* Utilize space most effectively, considering overhead space and impediments to cross trafficSCOPE AND LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDYThis study focuses on the methods, layout and processes used in the Garment industry. We limit our scope within the product mix and design processing and materials technology han dling, storage, and control technology production volumes, schedules and routings and management philosophies. All the data collected in this study must meet the requirements stated in the objective of the study. However, each study has its limitations that will be discussed below.* Inflexible in the number of products manufactured* Improper labeling, storage and arrangement of materials* Inflexible layout* Large deviation in production rates in field of study of equipment failure in the line* Waste arising from unnecessary motion (unlikely event)* Waste arising from producing defective products* Waste arising from transporting* Waste arising from processing itself* Waste arising from unnecessary stock on handDESCRIPTION OF THE OPERATIONSTEPS IN MAKING PANTS DRAFTING PATTERN MAKING CUTTING CODING SEWING1. We will focus on the significant few problems of the company however, we will still propose an improved plan for the trivial many after payback period of the first investment in order to fully utilize production rates effectively. The reason hindquarters this is because the company does not have enough funds to support the entire plan that will be proposed. After saving enough money from the minimisation of the top problems, the company will implement the entire plan th at will be proposed.Identifying the reasons of the impact on the facilities design function, the researchers surveyed the reasons of such event. The survey resulted as follows destinationWe design a plan in order to solve the significant few problem of the company. This program is designed to provide the smoothest flow of materials, achieve flexibility, improve quality, increase productivity and space utilization, and simultaneously reduce facilities and operating costs. The following trends can be utilized* Eliminate or minimize non-value-adding activities* Simultaneously use Material Handling* Improve design* Proper storage and arrangement of materials* Anticipate unlikely events* Proper labeling* Need for test/ inspection* Ergonomic orientation* Minimize the use of time and space resources* Manufacture in the shortest cycle time possible* Stockless production* Material as needed and required* Continuous-flow manufacturing* Zero-inventory production systemsIn conclusion, we recom mend this plan that we designed to improve the performance of the company and to improve the impact of the facilities design function. The continued trend toward just-in-time manufacturing puts the material handling and layout functions to the front line. By designing and implementing the plan we were able to meet out objective and creates the essence of the material handling function by 50%. The following elements will be further discussed* Right AmountHow much inventory is needed? What is needed? What is not anticipated?* Right MaterialSimplifying the parts numbering system and maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the database system are more fundamental tasks* Right SequenceEliminate unnecessary operations or improving those that remain.* Right penchantMeans positioning the material for ease of handling* Right PlaceAddresses both transportation and storage. It is desirable to directly transport material to the point of use rather than store the material at some intermediate l ocation.* Right TimeIt means on-time delivery. The goal is to develop a material handling system that will result in lower production cycle times, and not to lower material handling delivery times.* Right CostTo design the most efficient material handling systems at the most reasonable cost. This would entail the lowest possible cost that can be acquired from the From-To Chart.* Right Method apply more than one method is generally the right thing to do
